Just Some of My Artworks That Have Made It Into Art Awards and Exhibitions

I'm Looking At You Cockatoo

Australian Artist Awards Finalist

Highly Commended  2024

The oil on canvas creation that snagged a finalist position in the Australian Artists Awards 2024 and received a highly commended award celebrates the vibrant spirit of Australia through both colour and sound. Named "I’m Looking At You Cockatoo," this piece captures the playful essence of the wild cockatoos that often grace my home studio with their boisterous squawks.

Each detail has purpose—every stroke is infused with a sense of freedom and joy, mirroring the spirit of these delightful birds. My aim was to encapsulate the exuberance of a sunny afternoon in Australia, where laughter meets nature, creating a tapestry of colour that dances across the canvas. The honour of being recognised among such talented artists has solidified my belief in the power of connection between art, nature, and the exuberant characters that inhabit it.

Queensland Figurative Art Award

Finalist 2024

Behind The Bluey Magic

Finalist in the Queensland Figurative Art Awards

This oil on canvas piece that has been recognised as a finalist in the Queensland Figurative Art Awards 2024. This vibrant work is a heartfelt tribute to my sitter, Naomi Scutts, a talented animator from the beloved cartoon "Bluey." In this piece, I’ve aimed to capture the playful essence of her animation while infusing it with a sense of realism.

Naomi is portrayed alongside her cherished pet blue tongue lizard, nestled within a whimsical, cartoon-inspired setting. The playful juxtaposition of her animated world and realistic features invites the viewer to step into a magical realm where creativity knows no bounds. The use of lively colours and expressive brush strokes reflects the joy and energy that both Naomi and her animated characters exude.

This fusion of styles not only honours Naomi's artistic journey but also showcases my passion for blending different mediums and techniques. With this piece, I invite you to experience the delightful intersection of realism and animation, celebrating the unique relationship between an artist and her art.
